This qualification reflects the role of individuals working in kitchens who use a defined and limited range of food preparation and cookery skills to prepare food and menu items. This qualification provides a pathway to work in kitchen operations in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafes, and coffee shops; and institutions such as aged care facilities, hospitals, prisons, and schools.
Upon successful completion of all units of competency for this qualification, the student will be awarded SIT20421 Certificate II in Cookery qualification and will gain up to 4 QCE points.
The SIT20421 Certificate II in Cookery, is delivered within 12 months in either a classroom environment with weekly classroom sessions at various delivery locations or via distance learning.
VET in Schools (VETiS) has the following eligibility criteria:
To achieve this qualification; SIT20421 Certificate II in Cookery, thirteen (13) units must be completed including seven (7) core and six (6) elective units.

There are no Student Co-Contribution Fees for eligible students under the VETiS Program.

Students are required to complete mandatory 12 service shifts, which we will assist you to organise with one of our partner organisations. Elective units can be customised to suit desired outcomes.
If you are a new enrolling student, undertaking Nationally recognised training, you will need a USI number to receive your Qualification/Statement of Attainment. If you do not have a USI you will not be able to receive a qualification. To create a USI account, go to the website: www.usi.gov.au
