In this course you will learn knowledge and skills required to provide a first aid response to infants and children in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. This unit applies to a range of workers within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthma and anaphylactic emergencies. This includes early childhood workers and educators who work with school age children in outside school hours care and vacation programs.
*This First Aid qualification also requires you to complete HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), which is delivered on the same day and is included in the total cost. Please book your place for CPR training HERE!
Upon successful completion of the unit of competency, the student will be awarded HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting.
Under the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines, it is recommended that HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting is refreshed every three (3) years in line with industry standards.
Fee-For-Service students up to eight (8) hours study duration.
There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
While there are no formal course entry requirements, it is recommended that students be able to read, write, have numeracy skills and communicate in English to at least Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) level one (1).
All prospective students are required to complete prior to enrolment a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) Assessment. This ensures a student’s skills and competencies including their language, literacy and numeracy proficiency and digital literacy are suitable for the training product in which they would like to enrol in.
