To be eligible to enrol in the Certificate 3 Guarantee, prospective students must:

  • be aged 15 years or older;
  • be no longer at school (with the exception of school students in Years 10, 11 and 12 undertaking a VET in School (VETiS) program – See the VETiS Fact Sheet for more information. 
  • permanently reside in Queensland;
  • be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen (for more information see https://desbt.qld.gov.au/training/providers/inclusive/visa-eligibility);
  • not hold, or not be enrolled in, a certificate III or higher-level qualification, not including qualifications completed at school and foundation skills training.

 

As this qualification requires completing mandatory work placement hours you will need to complete both a Working with Children Blue Card and NDIS Workers Screening Check. If either screening checks identifies that you have a criminal history, you may be disqualified from being eligible to undertake placement and assessment, which would affect your course outcomes. You may also need to provide a First Aid Certificate, Federal Police Check, Manual Handling Certificate and/or relevant vaccination records.

To achieve this qualification, CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability), fifteen (15) units must be completed including nine (9) core and six (6) elective units.

Elective Units – AGEING specialisation

  • CHCAGE013 Work effectively in aged care
  • CHCAGE011 Provide support to people living with dementia
  • CHCPAL003 Deliver care services using a palliative approach

Elective Units – DISABILITY specialisation 

  • CHCDIS020 Work effectively in disability support
  • CHCDIS011 Contribute to ongoing skills development using a strengths-based approach
  • CHCDIS012 Support community participation and social inclusion

Given the benefits that training provides to individuals, students undertaking certificate III level training and non-concessional students undertaking lower -level vocational training are required to contribute to the costs of their training through a co-contribution fee. The fee may be paid on your behalf by an employer or another third party but cannot be paid or waived by the training provider, or any organisation related to the training provider, unless approved by the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT).

 

The Student Co-Contribution Fee for eligible students under the Certificate 3 Guarantee (C3G) Program for this qualification is $25 concessional or $50 no concessional. This fee will be required to be paid in full prior to the training course commencing.

 

To be eligible to receive subsidised training under the Certificate 3 Guarantee program you must:

  • be aged 15 years or older;

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.

  • CHC43015 – Certificate IV in Ageing Support
  • CHC43121 – Certificate IV in Disability Support

If you are a new enrolling student, undertaking Nationally recognised training, you will need a USI number to receive your Qualification/Statement of Attainment. If you do not have a USI you will not be able to receive a qualification. To create a USI account, go to the website: www.usi.gov.au
