There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

While there are no formal course entry requirements, it is recommended that students be able to read, write, have numeracy skills and communicate in English to at least Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) level three (3).

All prospective students are required to complete prior to enrolment a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) Assessment. This ensures a student’s skills and competencies including their language, literacy and numeracy proficiency and digital literacy are suitable for the training product in which they would like to enrol in. Students may be required to obtain vaccinations, clearances or checks (e.g. National Police Check and Working with Children Check (Blue Card)) required for industry placement, employment and/or training in accordance with industry and/or organisational policies.

 

To achieve this qualification, the student must demonstrate competency in seventeen (17) units:

  • Fifteen (15) core units
  • Two (2) elective units.
    • One (1) unit from the list below
    • One (1) unit from the electives listed below, elsewhere in the CHC Community Services Training Package, or any other current Training Package or accredited course.

 

The code and title of each unit are provided as well as an indication of pre-requisite requirements. Pre-requisite unit(s) must be assessed before assessment of any unit of competency with an asterisk.

  • CHCECE032 Nurture babies and toddlers
  • CHCECE033 Develop positive and respectful relationships with children

  • CHCECE036 Provide experiences to support children’s play and learning
  • CHCECE037 Support children to connect with the natural environment
  • CHCECE038 Observe children to inform practice
  • CHCECE054 Encourage understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures
  • CHCECE055 Meet legal and ethical obligations in children’s education and care
  • CHCECE056 Work effectively in children’s education and care
  • CHCPRT001 Identify and respond to children and young people at risk
  • HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting
  • HLTWHS001 Participate in workplace health and safety

 

Elective Units

  • CHCPRP003 Reflect on and improve own professional practice

To achieve this qualification, the student must have completed a total of at least one hundred and sixty (160) hours of work in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency. The total number of hours may be approved collectively across all units of competency that include the requirement for workplace hours.
