VET in Schools (VETiS) has the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be enrolled in secondary School (years 10, 11 or 12).
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian entrants), or a temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency.
  • Have not already accessed and exhausted VETiS funding. VETiS funding is only available for one qualification for each student.
  • Not be enrolled in another qualification (not including foundations skills training).

To achieve this qualification; CHC22015 Certificate II in Community Services, nine (9) units must be completed including five (5) core and four (4) elective units.

Core Units

  • CHCCOM001 Provide first point of contact
  • CHCCOM005 Communicate and work in health or community services
  • CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
  • HLTWHS001 Participate in workplace health and safety
  • BSBWOR202 Organise and complete daily work activities

 

Elective Units

  • HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support*
  • CHCDIV002 Promote Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety
  • CHCCCS015 Provide individualised support
  • CHCLEG001 Work legally and ethically

MiHaven Training (RTO #40928) has a Third-Party Agreement in place with First Aid Academy (RTO #40920) First Aid Academy conducts training and assessment services on MiHaven Training’s behalf. Upon completion, you will be issued with a National Accredited Statement of Attainment by MiHaven Training.

There are no Student Co-Contribution Fees for eligible students under the VETiS Program.

Students are not required to undertake any mandatory work placement, however it is to be noted, to gain employment within the industry, you will need to complete both a Working with Children Blue Card and NDIS Workers Screening Check. If either screening checks identifies that you have a criminal history, you may not be eligible to secure employment. You may also need to provide a First Aid Certificate, Federal Police Check, Manual Handling Certificate and/or relevant vaccination records- requirements are dependent on each provider.

On completion of this qualification, students can work towards the following:

  • CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability)
  • CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing)
  • CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)

If you are a new enrolling student, undertaking Nationally recognised training, you will need a USI number to receive your Qualification/Statement of Attainment. If you do not have a USI you will not be able to receive a qualification. To create a USI account, go to the website: www.usi.gov.au
