This non-accredited short course is specifically designed for qualified Aged Care and Disability Support Workers with experience in direct client care. Developed by industry specialists, it aims to enhance the manual handling skills of staff working in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), aged care, and home care settings. The short course focuses on safe and effective manual handling practices and covers key topics including risk control, basic anatomy and physiology, injury prevention, pre-start exercises, and correct manual handling postures. Practical components include techniques such as log rolls, the use of slide sheets, application of wet and dry slings, and the safe operation of full and standing hoists.
IMPORTANT:
Closed-in shoes are mandatory for all students in order to participate in this short course. We recommend students also wear practical clothing (e.g. shorts/pants) as you will need to participate in a variety of movements and scenarios.
Upon successfully demonstrating competency in this unit, the student will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance (COA).
Fee-For-Service students two (2) hours study duration.
There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
While there are no formal course entry requirements, it is recommended that students be able to read, write, have numeracy skills and communicate in English to at least Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) level one (1).
