This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to prepare for and provide medication assistance and complete medication documentation. It also involves supporting a client to self-administer medication.
Work Placement: Students are required to be supervised in the workplace by a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Enrolled Nurse (EN) or Registered Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner when undertaking work placement tasks.
Upon successful completion of the unit of competency, the student will be awarded a Statement of Attainment (SOA) for HLTHPS006 Assist clients with medication. This competency forms part of CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability).
Fee-For-Service students up to three (3) months study duration.
All prospective students are required to complete prior to enrolment a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) Assessment. This ensures a student’s skills and competencies including their language, literacy and numeracy proficiency and digital literacy are suitable for the training product in which they would like to enrol in. Fee-For-Service: Students must be an existing worker in the Community Services and Health Industry, which includes parents and unpaid carers of National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants. It is recommended that students be able to read, write, have numeracy skills and communicate in English to at least Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) level three (3).
