This qualification provides an introduction to the construction industry, its culture, occupations, job roles and workplace expectations. The units of competency cover essential work health and safety requirements, the industrial and work organisation structure, communication skills, work planning, and basic use of tools and materials. The qualification is built around a basic construction project unit that integrates the skills and embeds the facets of employability skills in context. The qualification is suited to Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Schools programs or learners with no previous connection to the construction industry or relevant employment history.
Upon successful completion of all units of competency for this qualification, the student will be awarded CPC10120 Certificate I in Construction and will earn up to three (3) Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) credits.
Career Ready (General Training) / Career Start (SQW ONLY) / Fee-For-Service students up to six (6) months (full-time) study duration.
Career Start (Traineeship SQW ONLY) students up to six (6) months (full-time) nominal duration.
There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
While there are no formal course entry requirements, it is recommended that students be able to read, write, have numeracy skills and communicate in English to at least Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) level one (1).
All prospective students are required to complete prior to enrolment a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) Assessment. This ensures a student’s skills and competencies including their language, literacy and numeracy proficiency and digital literacy are suitable for the training product in which they would like to enrol in. Students may be required to obtain vaccinations, clearances or checks (e.g. CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry) required for industry placement, employment and/or training in accordance with industry and/or organisational policies.
To achieve this qualification, the student must demonstrate competency in eleven (11) units:

On completion of this qualification, students can work towards CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry (Apprenticeship)
