There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

While there are no formal course entry requirements, it is recommended that students be able to read, write, have numeracy skills and communicate in English to at least Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) level one (1).

All prospective students are required to complete prior to enrolment a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) Assessment. This ensures a student’s skills and competencies including their language, literacy and numeracy proficiency and digital literacy are suitable for the training product in which they would like to enrol in. Students may be required to obtain vaccinations, clearances or checks (e.g. CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry) required for industry placement, employment and/or training in accordance with industry and/or organisational policies.

To achieve this qualification, the student must demonstrate competency in eleven (11) units:

  • Eight (8) core units
  • Three (3) elective units
    • Up to three (3) units from the elective units below
    • One (1) unit from Certificate I or II qualifications in the CPC Training Package or another current Training Package or accredited course, provided the integrity of the AQF alignment is ensured, and it contributes to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.

The code and title of each unit are provided as well as an indication of pre-requisite requirements. Pre-requisite unit(s) must be assessed before assessment of any unit of competency with an asterisk.

*Pre-requisite unit required: CPCCWHS2001 Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry.

  • CPCCCM1011 Undertake basic estimation and costing
  • CPCCCM2004 Handle construction materials*
  • CPCCCM2005 Use construction tools and equipment*
  • CPCCOM1012 Work effectively and sustainably in the construction industry
  • CPCCOM1013 Plan and organise work
  • CPCCVE1011 Undertake a basic construction project*

Elective Units

  • CPCCOM1015 Carry out measurements and calculations
  • CPCCCM2006 Apply basic levelling procedures
  • CPCCOM2001 Read and interpret plans and specifications*

There is no work placement.

On completion of this qualification, students can work towards CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry (Apprenticeship)
