This qualification provides an introduction to the construction industry, its culture, occupations, job roles and workplace expectations. The units of competency cover essential work health and safety requirements, the industrial and work organisation structure, communication skills, work planning, and basic use of tools and materials. The qualification is built around a basic construction project unit that integrates the skills and embeds the facets of employability skills in context.
Upon successful completion of all units of competency for this qualification, the student will be awarded CPC10120 Certificate I in Construction and will earn up to 3 QCE credits
The CPC10120 Certificate I in Construction, is delivered within 6 months in either a classroom/workshop environment with weekly sessions at various delivery locations or via distance learning.
VET in Schools (VETiS) has the following eligibility criteria:
To achieve this qualification; CPC10120 Certificate I in Construction, eleven (11) units must be completed including eight (8) core and three (3) elective units.

The unit CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry is designed to meet WHS regulatory authority requirements for WHS induction and must be achieved before access to any building and construction work site. Elective units can be customised to suit desired outcomes.
There are no Student Co-Contribution Fees for eligible students under the VETiS Program.
VET in Schools (VETiS) has the following eligibility criteria:

There is no work placement.
On completion of this qualification, students can work towards the following:
CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry (Apprenticeship)
If you are a new enrolling student, undertaking Nationally recognised training, you will need a USI number to receive your Qualification/Statement of Attainment. If you do not have a USI you will not be able to receive a qualification. To create a USI account, go to the website: www.usi.gov.au
