This skill set reflects the competencies required to support individuals in the self-administration of medication. It is designed to equip support workers with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to assist clients in a variety of care settings, while promoting independence and adhering to relevant legislative and organisational requirements. It has been endorsed by industry as appropriate for individuals who hold a Certificate III qualification or higher in a field involving the direct provision of client care or support.
This Skill Set includes the following units:
Work Placement: Students are required to be supervised in the workplace by a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Enrolled Nurse (EN) or Registered Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner when undertaking work placement tasks.
Upon successfully demonstrating competency in this unit, the student will be awarded CHCSS00070 Assist Clients with Medication Skill Set.
Career Boost (General Training) / Fee-For-Service students up to three (3) months study duration.
Career Boost (General Training): Students must be an existing worker in the Community Services and Health industry, which includes parents and unpaid carers of National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants. Additional student eligibility requirements are published on www.training.gov.au. It is recommended that students be able to read, write, have numeracy skills and communicate in English to at least Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) level three (3).
Fee-For-Service: There are no entry requirements for this qualification. While there are no formal course entry requirements, it is recommended that students be able to read, write, have numeracy skills and communicate in English to at least Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) level three (3).
All prospective students are required to complete prior to enrolment a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) Assessment. This ensures a student’s skills and competencies including their language, literacy and numeracy proficiency and digital literacy are suitable for the training product in which they would like to enrol in.
