This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a range of community settings and people’s homes, who provide support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and wellbeing. Workers promote a person-centred approach, work according to and may contribute to an individualised plan, and work without direct supervision. They may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team.
Upon successful completion of all units of competency for this qualification, the student will be awarded CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support.
Up to twelve (12) months (full-time) study duration.
Completion of: CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)
OR
Completion of: CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) (Superseded)
OR
Completion of: CHC30408 Certificate III in Disability (Superseded) PLUS the CHCSS00125 Entry to Certificate IV in Disability Support Skill Set.
It is recommended that students be able to read, write, have numeracy skills and communicate in English to at least Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) level four (4).
Career Boost (General Training): Students must already hold the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (or superseded qualification) and be an existing worker in the Disability industry sector, which includes parents and unpaid carers of National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants.
All prospective students are required to complete prior to enrolment a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) Assessment. This ensures a student’s skills and competencies including their language, literacy and numeracy proficiency and digital literacy are suitable for the training product in which they would like to enrol in. A NDIS Workers Screening Check (Yellow Card) is required for all workplace-based practical observation tasks. Additional security clearances, checks, certificates and/or vaccinations (e.g. National Police Check, Working with Children Check (Blue Card), First Aid, Manual Handling certificate and/or flu shot etc.) may also be required by the owner and/or operator of the organisation where you undertake any workplace-based practical observation tasks.
The successful achievement of this qualification requires the completion of ten (10) units of competency, made up of seven (7) core units and three (3) elective units, consisting of:

The code and title of each unit are provided as well as an indication of pre-requisite requirements. Pre-requisite unit(s) must be assessed before assessment of any unit of competency with an asterisk.
