This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a range of community settings and people’s homes, who provide support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and wellbeing. Workers promote a person-centred approach, work according to and may contribute to an individualised plan, and work without direct supervision. They may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team.
Upon successful completion of all units of competency for this qualification, the student will be awarded CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support.
Career Boost (General Training) / Fee-For-Service students up to twelve (12) months (full-time) study duration.
Completion of: CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)
OR
Completion of: CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) (Superseded)
OR
Completion of: CHC30408 Certificate III in Disability (Superseded) PLUS the CHCSS00125 Entry to Certificate IV in Disability Support Skill Set.
It is recommended that students be able to read, write, have numeracy skills and communicate in English to at least Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) level four (4).
Career Boost (General Training): Students must be an existing worker in the Disability industry sector, which includes parents and unpaid carers of National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants.
All prospective students are required to complete prior to enrolment a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) Assessment. This ensures a student’s skills and competencies including their language, literacy and numeracy proficiency and digital literacy are suitable for the training product in which they would like to enrol in. Students may be required to obtain vaccinations, clearances or checks (e.g. National Police Check, NDIS Worker Screening (Yellow Card) and Working with Children Check (Blue Card)) required for industry placement, employment and/or training in accordance with industry and/or organisational policies.
To achieve this qualification, the student must demonstrate competency in ten (10) units:
