This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to extract and serve espresso coffee beverages using commercial espresso machines and grinders. It requires the ability to advise customers on coffee beverages, select and grind coffee beans, prepare and assess espresso coffee beverages and to use, maintain and clean espresso machines and grinders.
Upon successful completion of the unit of competency, the student will be awarded a Statement of Attainment (SOA) for SITHFAB025 Prepare and serve espresso coffee^. This competency forms part of SIT20322 Certificate II in Hospitality.
Up to one (1) month study duration.
Face-to-Face students six (6) hour class delivery.
^Pre-requisite unit required: SITXFSA005 Use hygienic practices for food safety.
Pre-requisite unit(s) must be assessed before assessment of SITHFAB025 Prepare and serve espresso coffee.
While there are no formal course entry requirements, it is recommended that students be able to read, write, have numeracy skills and communicate in English to at least Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) level two (2).
All prospective students are required to complete prior to enrolment a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) Assessment. This ensures a student’s skills and competencies including their language, literacy and numeracy proficiency and digital literacy are suitable for the training product in which they would like to enrol in.
